Belstaff has collaborated with McLaren Automotive to create a unique capsule collection combining design, innovation and pioneering technology from two modern British brands. The collection embodies the inherent principles of Belstaff and McLaren Automotive, creating a symphony of precision, engineering and authenticity.

Every detail and decision within the design process was carefully considered incorporating the key McLaren design pillar ‘everything for a reason’. McLaren brings a distinct design DNA, knowledge of lightweight and performance
materials and engineering techniques garnered from over 50 years of racing and automotive experience. Belstaff’s purpose for nearly a century has been to provide innovative, functional outfitting for generations of pioneers. This collection combines the two brands’ design ethos, ensuring a luxurious, modern yet subtle and timeless aesthetic.

The limited edition capsule collection includes 10 men’s pieces and 3 women’s outerwear pieces. Men’s includes; all-season tri-layer outerwear and gilet, lightweight stretch nylon outerwear, performance leather jacket, suiting, shirting and layering options, creating the optimum weekend capsule. Women’s includes 3 key outerwear styles in all-season tri-layer, lightweight stretch nylon driving jacket and parka and a performance leather jacket style. Ergonomic seam lines and innovative stretch fabrics allow for full range of movement for a lifestyle at the wheel and beyond the car.
Key design details include; mesh ventilation systems, laser cut and seam sealed, pivot armholes, padded shoulders for seatbelt comfort, concealed micro pockets, minimal necklines to aid peripheral vision and extended rear hem for driving. Lightweight, breathable, water resistant fabrics ensure pieces can be worn in a variety of environments, regardless of climate. Each garment has a rubberized printed serial identification, aligned with McLaren naming conventions.
Mike Flewitt, CEO at McLaren Automotive, explains: “The McLaren design language is just as relevant when applied to the development of products in other industries and we have been looking for the right partners to interpret the thoughts of Rob Melville, Design Director, and his team to bring this philosophy to life. Both Belstaff and McLaren Automotive share the same values and the synergy between both brands has resulted in a
collection which has a look and feel similar to that which you would expect from McLaren.”

‘Belstaff’s partnership with McLaren has been highly rewarding. We are two modern, British brands who share an obsession with design, performance and innovation. Belstaff has been the outfitter to legends and adventurers since 1924, and this Belstaff X McLaren collection merges the best qualities of both brands.’ Helen Wright, CEO.

The collection launches on the 6th November 2018 in UK, Europe and US with Asia launching in early 2019, it will be available from Belstaff global stores, online, with select retail partners and at select McLaren Automotive Dealerships.

For close to a century Belstaff has been making clothes for men and women who want more from life, to push the limits.
Technically excellent, beautifully crafted British design and know-how is at the heart of what we do, and our clothes are beyond fashion but always in style, innately cool and appealing to men and women who are used to going the extra mile and living life on their own terms.
Our iconic jackets had the back of everyone from aviator Amy Johnson to adventurer TE Lawrence and revolutionary Che Guevara.
We still make those jackets today – and we still kit out some of the world’s most questing individuals– but we make much more besides.
Rigorously designed, effortlessly good-looking and built for life: Belstaff is for people who don’t think getting dressed is the most important thing they’ll do that day.

The company, launched in 2010, is now the largest part of the McLaren Group. Every vehicle is hand-assembled at the McLaren Production Centre (MPC) in Woking, Surrey, England. Announced in 2016, the company’s Track22 business plan will see the company invest £1billion in research and development to deliver 15 new cars or derivatives by the end of 2022, of which at least half will be hybrids. 2017 saw the company launch further models in line with Track22 including the second-generation Super Series, the 570S Spider and the McLaren Senna. To support the development, engineering and manufacture of its range of innovative sportscars and supercars, McLaren Automotive partners with world leading companies to provide specialist expertise and technology.
