Modern British heritage brand Belstaff launches a limited edition capsule collection with cult Japanese street-wear brand SOPHNET. for Autumn/ Winter 17.

Belstaff is steeped in its spirit of adventure having created clothing for pioneers in motorsports, aviation and exploration since its birth in 1924.  SOPHNET. the popular Japanese street-wear brand takes inspiration from music, art and street culture. This seasonal collaboration comprises of classic Belstaff shapes with identifiable SOPHNET. design cues, giving a more urban aesthetic for today’s street market. This is the second seasonal capsule from the two brands and the first Autumn/ Winter release.

Delphine Ninous, Creative Director says of the launch: “We are proud to reveal this seasonal collaboration with renowned Japanese street-wear label SOPHNET. It was great to be able to work with Kiyonaga on this capsule, taking inspiration from classic Belstaff designs and silhouettes. Kiyonaga displays a ‎great respect for the codes of the brand‎ but brings a modern and urban functionality. The collection is a limited series aimed at the global city adventurer and I look forward to continuing our collaboration for future seasons.”

Hirofumi Kiyonaga, SOPHNET. says of the launch, “I came across Belstaff decades ago, when my curiosity for fashion first began. Belstaff is a brand which people have worn and admired for many years and I respect their designs, longevity and authenticity. This is something I wish for with my own label. I appreciate the opportunity to work with Belstaff and I believe this collection showcases the Belstaff philosophy combined with Japanese street culture. I hope the collection appeals to the loyal fans of both brands but also to a new audience.”

Belstaff’s iconic four-pocket 6oz waxed cotton Roadmaster jacket is given a new look with bold camo print. The grey, blue and green camo print used throughout the collection is a British woodland camouflage taken from the rich Belstaff archive. The Roadmaster has the signature SOPHNET. cardholder pocket detail on the sleeve adding functionality to the jacket. Commemorative pins, also sold with the jacket, give the wearer the opportunity to personalise the design. The piece still retains the water resistant and windproof properties of Belstaff’s traditional wax cotton but with a modern twist.

The Rebel jacket, a 70s café racer style taken from the Belstaff archive, is produced in a black calf skin leather. The asymmetrical zipper and articulated shoulders keeps the moto look of the jacket, while the sleeve pocket adds a modern urban functionality.

The Roadmaster Down jacket, inspired by the classic four pocket Trialmaster, a silhouette first introduced in the 40s. The down jacket and fur lined hood gives insulation and protection in winter weather conditions, while the polly/cotton fabric is water resistant. Pins are sold with the jacket for the wearer to personalise, available in black, military green, dark navy and grey mist, with camo print lining.

In keeping with the street style elements SOPHNET. is known for, the collection also comprises of several cotton fleece pieces, including the Grantley jumper, with large logo print in camo with camo inside sleeve details, the Eastbury hoodie, with large logo on the hood and and camo sleeve detail and the Aston jogger with articulated moto style details. The Phoenix logo in a large scale camo print is on the back of the Grantley. All are available in black, navy and grey.

The BXS Sneaker is a classic flat sneaker, available in taupe leaf green, with waxed cotton laces. The nylon trim in different capsule camo colours is added to the heel of sneaker, a classic design cue from SOPHNET. For the first time the BXS Boot is added to the collection, inspired by the classic Belstsff Atwell boot, the navy leather contrasting with the white rubber articulated sole, keeping the boot contemporary.
